Skip Pizzi, Technology Editor

Skip Pizzi is an award-winning radio and audio engineer whose background includes 25 years as a technical manager at National Public Radio and at Microsoft Corporation. He founded NPR's technical training department, and contributed to numerous digital media efforts at Microsoft. He has also held leadership positions in several media standards-development organizations.

Skip's first book, Digital Radio Basics (published in 1992), was the world's first commercial text on digital radio broadcasting. More recently he co-authored Audio Over IP, published in October 2009 by Focal Press. Skip is also a contributor to the NAB Engineering Handbook and several other technical texts and reference books.

He is a graduate of Georgetown University, where he studied Electrical Engineering, International Economics and Fine Arts.
